Re-Invent Yourself

  • set up your professional life as a spouse in a new country
  • grow your professional network
  • more than 58% of the participants found a suitable job within a few months after graduating the programme

what's it about?

Moving to a new country with your partner can be a challenging experience. As the accompanying spouse, you often have to put your career on hold, making it difficult to navigate your professional goals and establish yourself in a new environment.

Questions like Could I work here without knowing the language?”, “What job opportunities might be available?”, “Where could I build professional connections?”, or “How could I start a business or find volunteering opportunities?” are common. Without a strong network, finding answers to these questions could be even more difficult.

Work in Estonia has been running the ‘Re-Invent Yourself’ programme to support international spouses in Estonia in reinventing their professional careers since 2019.
More than half of the participants have found a job or engaged in other professional activities within months of completing the course, and the programme is highly recommended by past participants.

The 5-week programme consists of:

  • Supporting your journey when adjusting in Estonia: from re-inventing your career and learning about the labour market to learning about local business culture to setting up your own company
  • Meetings with local professionals to create your network
  • Individual career and networking consultations to help you plan your career with mentors and Eesti Töötukassa (Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund)
  • You are an accompanying partner/spouse of an international talent who´s currently living and working in Estonia
  • You have an Estonian ID card or Temporary Residence Permit that remains valid for a minimum of one year after submitting your application for the programme
  • You have resided in Estonia for minimum 6 months
  • You have a higher education
  • You are currently not employed in Estonia
