Estonia has launched its e-residency application portal at e-resident.gov.ee, enabling anyone in the world to participate in the public beta of the world’s first government-backed transnational digital identity program.

Latitude59 networking conference, which took place as part of Estonian ICT Week last Thursday and Friday, brought together innovators and entrepreneurs from all Baltic and Nordic countries and some special guests from different parts of Europe, the US and Asia.

The Estonian software company, Pipedrive, which provides wise and practical help to salesmen, announced on May 14 it had raised an additional $9 million in funding to help accelerate its growth.

Estonia, a tech-savvy and ever-globalizing country, has lately been busy developing many initiatives to help and encourage foreign talent to relocate here. Work in Estonia, launched on April 28 by Enterprise Estonia, a government agency, is the most ambitious welcoming program yet.

On August 29, 2003, six people from Estonia, Sweden and Denmark launched a new product in Tallinn. On its first day, 10,000 people downloaded it. Few months later, it had a million users. Twelve years later, it is used by 300 million connected users around the world. The product is called Skype.

According to the global graduate business school, INSEAD, Estonia is among the most talent-ready countries in the world.
